How We Handle an Application
- ITIN applications. We prepare IRS Form W-7, check it against the documents your case needs and submit the application to the IRS. See the ITIN application service.
- EIN applications. We prepare IRS Form SS-4 and file it with the IRS as your third-party designee, then send you the number by e-mail. See the EIN application service.
Most of our clients live outside the U.S. and cannot use the IRS online tools: founders of U.S. LLCs, online sellers, investors and their families.
What We Are Not
We are not the IRS and we are not affiliated with any government agency. The IRS charges nothing for an ITIN or an EIN, and you can apply for either yourself. Our fee pays for preparing, checking and filing the application. The IRS alone decides every application and how long it takes.
How Our Guides Are Written
The guides in our knowledge base are written by our own team, from the applications we handle and from the instructions the IRS publishes.
- When a guide states an IRS fee, processing time, address or phone number, we take it from irs.gov and link to the page it came from.
- Every guide shows the date it was published and the date it was last updated.
- IRS rules change. We are reviewing our older guides against the current instructions, and a page that has been reviewed says when its figures were checked.
- Our guides are general information, not tax or legal advice for your situation.
